A season ticket package built on trust, surprise, and investing in the future of local arts

Southeast Texas Stages is announcing something unusual for its upcoming theatre season: season tickets are officially on sale… for shows the public cannot yet know by name.

Dubbed “The Untitled Season Project, the initiative embraces both the realities and the excitement of producing live theatre in today’s economic climate. Due to the rising cost of theatrical licensing and the legal requirement that rights be secured before titles can be publicly announced, Stages is inviting audiences to invest not simply in a list of productions — but in the artists, students, educators, and community programs that make live theatre possible in Southeast Texas.

“We know it sounds mysterious — because it is,” said Julia Rodriguez. “But there’s also something thrilling about it. This season will roll out like top-secret intel. Clues. Announcements. Reveals. Big moments. We want our audiences to feel like they’re part of something being built in real time.”

We can confirm that two beloved holiday traditions will return:

  • A Christmas Carol

  • A Very Beaumont Christmas — returning by popular demand with “a few new twists tucked into the stockings.”

Beyond that, audiences can expect a season that balances crowd-pleasers, bold storytelling, local talent, educational programming, and productions designed to continue expanding access to the arts across the region.

The “Untitled” approach is not a gimmick born out of novelty, but a candid response to the financial pressures facing community arts organizations nationwide. Licensing costs for major theatrical properties have increased dramatically, requiring organizations to commit significant funds months before tickets can realistically be sold. Stages leadership says the organization is at a pivotal moment.

“Like many arts organizations, we are navigating a turning point,” a member of the Board of Directors shared. “Every season ticket purchased now helps secure production rights, train young performers, sustain technical theatre opportunities, expand accessibility initiatives, and keep professional-quality live theatre thriving here at home. This isn’t just buying a seat. It’s investing in a creative ecosystem that belongs to Southeast Texas.”

The organization emphasized that the project also reflects the trust built with audiences over years of productions, educational programs, camps, concerts, and community events.

“We believe our patrons know who we are,” Executive Director, John Manfredi continues. “They know the kind of work we produce. They know the heart behind it. The titles may be classified for now — but the mission isn’t.”

Season package holders will receive:

  • Early access to title reveals and announcements

  • Reserved seating benefits

  • Access to special events and insider updates

  • The satisfaction of directly helping launch the season before the curtain rises

Stages hopes the unusual initiative sparks conversation throughout the region about the value — and vulnerability — of local arts organizations.

“People often don’t realize how fragile nonprofit arts can be until it disappears,” organizers noted. “We’re choosing optimism instead. We’re choosing transparency. We’re choosing to invite the community into the process.”

Additional title announcements and “classified leaks” about the season are expected in the coming months.
