White Linen Night is our signature fundraising event that transforms the theatre into a vibrant celebration of local art and community. Guests are invited to wear their summer whites and enjoy an evening filled with live music, art displays, food, drinks, and unique experiences.
While it feels like a lively art festival, every ticket and every auction item directly supports the theatre’s mission to bring high-quality productions, classes, and cultural opportunities to Southeast Texas. 2026 Honoree
Maurice Abelman is a multidisciplinary artist, muralist, educator, and graphic designer based in Beaumont, whose work bridges community storytelling, contemporary design, and education. Having painted 60+ large-scale murals across Southeast Texas, Maurice has built a reputation for transforming public spaces into visual landmarks thatcelebrate culture, history, and identity.
As the Coordinator of Graphic Design and a tenured instructor at Lamar State College Port Arthur, Maurice is committed to mentoring the next generation of creatives, blending industry experience with classroom instruction in branding, digital imaging, and experiential design. His teaching philosophy centers on helping students develop strong
conceptual thinking while adapting to an ever-evolving creative industry.
Maurice’s professional work spans branding, logo development, advertising campaigns, packaging design, and environmental graphics and murals, with a focus on creating bold, strategic visuals that connect with audiences. Whether designing for businesses, institutions, or community initiatives, his work balances artistic expression with
functional communication.
At the core of Maurice’s practice is a belief that art should be accessible, impactful, androoted in human connection. Through both public art and design education, hecontinues to shape the visual landscape of Southeast Texas while empowering othersto find their own creative voice.
